About Sarah

For years I knew my background as a designer, energy worker, and educator, supported by a holistic philosophy was organically weaving together and guiding me to a deeper purpose. I found that purpose in the powerful alchemy of Feng Shui.

I completed my fine arts education in Toronto and design school in Paris, France. This led to an exciting and rewarding career in fashion design, illustration, and costume creation for film, theatre, and TV. The years spent in Europe solidified my love of design, an appreciation for attention to detail, and a reverence for the beauty in the small, often overlooked elements in day-to-day life. Extended time spent in India reinforced my holistic journey and led to certification as a yoga teacher specializing in prenatal yoga, becoming a Reiki Master, furthering my knowledge of Quantum Healing and Ayurveda, and ultimately pursuing professional Feng Shui training.

Designer/ Feng Shui Consultant/ Reiki Master

It was a personal design project that made this path clear. We bought our first home and put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into renovating it and creating our family home. It was a work in progress—simple, beautiful, and very “us”. The house was located at the end of a cul-de-sac (a less-than-ideal location according to Feng Shui) and had certain features (I came to learn) that were considered obstacles to a positive flow of energy. All areas of our lives were impacted—especially health (even for the dogs). There was misalignment on every level and things just weren’t shifting. I started to look more seriously into Feng Shui. I did my research, expanded my knowledge, reached out to experts for guidance, and implemented ideas and recommendations. Small changes led to bigger noticeable shifts. It wasn’t magic, but as I nourished a healthy flow of energy in our physical space, there was movement and our outer world started to fall into alignment too. We became healthier, (the dogs too!) and experienced more joy and ease. Creating the right energy in our home made such a difference!

I am now based outside of Boston and working with clients (in person or remotely) to manifest their intentions and bring their dreams and goals to life in their space. I love to authentically connect and communicate with clients to co-create small or great changes that will positively impact their lives.

Feng Shui | Sarah MacKenzie

What is Feng Shui?

Human life is connected to and flows with the environment around it.

Essentially, Feng Shui is energy work for your physical space. It is a tangible way of working with Qi (life force energy) through design and the arrangement of objects in your environment. Feng Shui is what elevates the design of your environment from being a simple statement of your personal style to being an extension of and deep connection to all aspects of your life.

Your home tells an energetic story—a story of the history of the home and/or the land, combined with your present personal story, which is always evolving. If you pay close attention to the details, your space has a lot of wisdom to share with you. Those details form a map that is your teacher.

There are different schools of Feng shui—each with its own approach to creating balanced, harmonious energy in your physical environment to support your inner and outer well-being on all levels.

  • Sarah is a wildly talented designer, and her ability to create and recreate spaces in the most efficient, detail-oriented, and gorgeous ways is a sight to behold. Trained as a Feng Shui Professional in The School of Intention, she brings a depth of design genius to her work; her redesigns of spaces during Feng Shui consultations using what clients have on hand are as impressive as her full interior makeovers. I can’t recommend her work enough, and I look forward to seeing the show-stopping before and after pictures of your home!”

  • “My husband and I had the great fortune of a redesign of our main sitting room by Sarah MacKenzie at Life Flow Design. Using her design skills and knowledge of Feng Shui, Sarah created a more harmonious, relaxing, and positive space.

Afer a series of questions about our preferences and responsiveness to things like color, light, material, and sound, Sarah recommended changes that created more space, both literally and figuratively, resulting in a room we now spend more time in. Getting rid of clutter, opening spaces that allow energy to flow more freely, and balancing elements have transformed our room and our home. The room feels quieter and calmer and better positioned for connection with one another and our guests.

I would highly recommend Sarah's services for those seeking healthier and happier spaces.”

  • “My husband and I built a house and we were overwhelmed with how to transform it into a "home". We felt out of our realm. I happen to be a therapist in the energetic healing arts and study metaphysics for my personal progression. The therapy room for my healing practice is also located on the ground floor. So, it was important my "space" be more than just a home with attractive, soothing décor; I wanted it to reflect the principles that guide my life. I wanted the energy to flow so that when a person walked into our home, the energy was grounding and balanced. I discovered Sarah whose talents abound. Not only is she incredibly experienced with decor, fabrics, color, and textures… She was patient, thoughtful, and really listened to what my husband and I wanted. While respecting our needs, preferences, and intention, she proposed a fabulous layout following Feng Shui principles and presented comparative photos to transform words into visuals we could understand. She stayed within budget and recommended beautiful affordable pieces that truly fit our style. Our house now feels like a home and more! I would absolutely work with her again!”

  • “Before hiring Sarah for a Feng Shui consult, I had two beliefs. One belief was that Feng Shui is simply a way to arrange living space based on Chinese principles. My other belief was that Sarah is a very talented designer- especially when it comes to textures and color. One belief was true, the other was not.

Immediately, Sarah set me at ease with a brief explanation of Feng Shui, teaching me that it was more than the placement of furniture and “cures”. She taught me that Feng Shui was also about the five elements of life and how they work together through your space to balance and strengthen your life. By answering the Elemental Questionnaire that Sarah provided, she was able to guide me to the area of my life that could benefit from Feng Shui adjustments. Instantly, I knew her feedback to be true and we focused on self-care and the bedroom. Although my bedroom was my space and my space alone, I had always put my energy into spaces I shared with others.

I think my biggest surprise throughout the experience was how little actually needed to change and yet, how impactful those suggested changes were in transforming my space.

I mentioned that I wanted a rug for beside my bed but hadn’t found the right one. Sarah suggested a plush, round rug, “perhaps sheepskin”; soft to the touch with lots of texture. Not only has it transformed my room from a design perspective, but I can feel that I have increased the positive energy in the room. Every morning when I set my feet on my rug, I know I am taking care of myself. Along with a few other little touches, Sarah helped me make my bedroom my sanctuary.

    Thank you, Sarah!”

  • We loved working with Sarah!

Working with Sarah has remarkably transformed our home with immediate and lasting results.  When we moved into a new house that had been occupied by the same owners for decades, we needed help to shift the old, stuck energy and create a space that resonated with our family. Sarah’s in-depth process was intuitive and insightful. She gracefully and professionally managed to help us create a cohesive and harmonious home that my husband and I both feel reflects our unique personalities as well as our shared vision. No small task! I have worked with other designers before, and this was so different than just delegating the decisions and approach to someone else. Following Sarah’s custom Feng Shui process was an introspective journey that allowed me to uncover areas that needed to be addressed in a way that was profound, enlightening, and liberating. The results... simply stunning!  We now have a beautiful space that speaks to our design aesthetic and flows magnetically with a great sense of ease, comfort, inspiration, and energy. In particular, for the first time, since I’ve had children, I once again have a dedicated creative sanctuary (yes, a room all to myself!) that not only showcases years of collecting treasures, career achievements, and important family mementos but provides me with a retreat that soothes my soul.  We are so grateful to Sarah at Life Flow Design for her expert guidance and delicate navigation to set the intention for a joyful and productive family home.

  • Sarah is a gifted healer. She is caring, perceptive and knowledgeable and has helped my family through some of the most intense health issues. It is her unique mix of knowledge of Eastern practices with her perceptive and caring nature that makes her so effective. Through Feng Shui philosophy and design, Sarah is offering the same level of expertise to the home as she does the body. She helped us redesign our bedroom to make it more welcoming and nurturing. Without judgment she viewed our room at its worst and made a few small, but impactful changes. I look forward to tackling the rest of my house with her help to make my home the sanctuary we strive for it to be.
